Nowadays sushi have tasted great amount of people. Sushi are popular not only in Japan, but all over the world. But did you know how to eat sushi the proper way? It is high time to know the rules!
The way you serve rolls or sushi plays an important role. It is crucial to know at least basic rules of serving.
Rules of serving:
To start with, dishes. In any good Japanese restaurant or sushi bar sushi will be served on wooden plaques or porcelain plates, or special bamboo tray. It is important to mention that plates should not be colourful, so that dish wouldn’t “lost” in the background. Use of rectangular or square dishes is preferable.
How to eat sushi properly?
Normally, in addition to sushi on the plate wasabi and ginger are served. Wasabi is ideal for spicy lovers, it is great to increase the taste. If you like spicy food, put small amount of wasabi on top of the roll. To eat ginger is advisable between sushi pieces, because it is used as a “cleanser”. Don’t mix ginger with soy sauce and put it on roll.
It is better to serve sushi immediately after cooking, but rolls can be served later, previously being held in refrigerator for a better slicing.
Remember to clean your hands with the warm, clean towel before eating!While eating don`t wave your chopsticks, don`t split your rolls in half it is very rude.When you are going to add soy sauce to your sushi, tilt your sushi fish-down, this way you will feel the full flavor, don`t ruin flavor of rice in sushi by adding soy sauce. Don`t forget that you should eat sushi piece all in one bite. To feel full taste, it is recommended to eat with nori first.
And last, but not least, place sushi face-down with the fish on your tongue, to feel fresh fish taste. Following these simple rules, will help you to feel comfortable in any sushi bar or Japanese restaurant.
